A child's initiation into the Catholic faith, which begins at their Baptism, requires a special level of commitment from both the child and their parents. As your child approaches the age when the sacramental preparation process will begin for First Eucharist, it is important for families to understand the commitment they will undertake over the coming year. Fulfilling this commitment will lead to the reception of sacraments, which constitute full initiation of your child into the Catholic faith community.
Families with children in second grade who have completed at least one year of faith formation, (includes Catholic school attendance), who have already celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation are eligible to enter into the process for receiving First Eucharist. Minimally, families are to attend weekly Mass and participate fully in the parish preparation process. In addition to regularly scheduled faith formation sessions, special parent-child formation sessions are held during the year. Attendance in the special parent-child sessions are also required.
If you have any questions regarding the Sacrament of Reconciliation, please contact Katie Tylinski, Regional Director of Faith Formation, via email. You may also reach her by phoning the parish office on Tuesday's and Thursday's.
