As a community of Faith, we have a responsibility to ourselves and one
another to enter into the process of on-going formation. This process is a
lifelong journey leading us into a closer, more intimate relationship with
Jesus. Our children are fully welcomed into this process.
The Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) provides formal education
and faith formation for students in Kindergarten through the eighth grade.
Formation sessions are scheduled on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM from
September to May. Sessions are held at Christ the King campus in Gilpin Twp.
The main objective of PREP is to provide a formal structure where
students can learn together and come to a deeper understanding of the sacred
truths of their Catholic faith at a level at which they are maturing. To help us
accomplish this goal we schedule regular classroom instruction, time for
traditional prayers and other devotions, seasonal family faith and fun
activities, and opportunities to experience church traditions. Parent and adult
faith formation opportunities will also be provided.
Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students will meet on the first
Tuesday of the month at Christ the King Campus, Gilpin Twp. From 6:30 to 7:45
PM. A second class or activity will be scheduled later in the month.
Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion are scheduled
separately during the second grade and include intergenerational components.
Currently the age to receive Confirmation is being raised and will eventually be
received in the eighth grade. Preparation for Confirmation will then take place
during the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
For children ages 3 to 10 there is Liturgy of the Word for Children
which takes place during the Sunday Liturgy. (September-May). Vacation Bible
School is also held the week after July 4 each summer.
