My name is Katie Tylinski and I am the new youth coordinator for the four parishes of our region. I am thrilled to be here!

As you may have heard, I was a youth minister in New Castle for nine years at St. Camillus Parish. I graduated from St. Vincent College in 2005. My husband and I reside in Ford City. I started here as your coordinator of youth ministry on July 20th. Everyone has been so welcoming and it is clear to me that this is a very special community of faith.

As the youth coordinator for each of the four parishes and I will do my best to be present to all of you and serve each of the parishes equally.

I have two office locations; one at Christ the King and the other at St. James. I will be informing you of my office hours once I establish them so that you know when and where to reach me. I encourage you to step outside of your comfort zones and participate at the awesome youth events that will be held at all four parishes. I look forward to meeting you!

At the back of the church there are interest forms for parents and for youth in grades 6-12, as well as volunteers. These forms were recently mailed to you. Please return them to me at your earliest convenience or drop them in the box at the back of the church. We are looking for volunteers. Please consider using your talents to serve this very important ministry. We need volunteers of all kinds: from chaperones to teachers, core team members and beyond. Please note your interest on the forms that are in the back of the church.

Attention 9th-12th graders: The Winter Retreat at Laurelville Retreat Center Solar House, Mount Pleasant is February 26th-28th, 2016. The cost of the retreat is $150.00 but we will help you with the cost and it will only be $75 (includes all lodging, meals and supplies for the weekend). We are looking for around 8 high school and middle school volunteers for the Spaghetti Dinner at St. Gertrude’s on February 25th from 3:45 PM-7:00 PM. Please contact the youth ministry office to sign up. This is a great way to earn community service hours! First come-first served to volunteer. Please sign up to register by Sunday, February 14th.

We will be going snowtubing at Hidden Valley on Saturday, February 20th with 6th to 12th graders. We will meet at St. James at 12:30 PM and return around 7:00 PM. Cost is $23 for snowtubing plus bring money for dinner. Permission slips and snow tubing release and waiver agreement are due by Sunday, February 14th. Call the Youth Ministry office prior to February 14th to obtain permission slip and waiver agreement.

FUSED 4 LIFETEEN, EDGE and their families are going to the Winter Jam (concert with about 10 Christian artists) on January 30th. Please meet at the St. James Church parking lot at 5:00 PM. We have limited car space and welcome parents to drive their family. First come-first served basis. You will hear 10 awesome bands for $10/person. We will buy tickets at the door and seats are not reserved. Contact Katie Tylinski for more information and to register by this Thursday, January 28th. Youth in grades 6th-12th have been asked to lead the Stations of the Cross during Lent at Christ the King on Friday, March 11th at 6:30 PM. We will need two readers, a cross bearer and two candle bearers. Please RSVP by Wednesday, March 2nd.
